Adjani’s Dreaming Whilst Black is both brilliantly funny and ruthlessly truthful. The show follows aspiring filmmaker Kwabena, trapped in a grey office, working in recruitment, correcting CVs of hapless people who list “cooking dogs” as an interest (“you’ve missed a comma”). We watch him trying to navigate awkward interactions with his white colleagues and his attempts to break into the film industry. In Adjani’s words ‘TV can project reality, not just reflect it’. The reviews have been fantastic, confirming that BBC Three has a massive hit on its hands with all six episodes now available on iPlayer.
