Ahh Matt. A highly awarded director who is remarkably talented and a brilliant observer of human behaviour.
His work brims with captivating honesty and effortless humour. His emotive stories depict the moments that we too often forget to notice. The gestures, glances and glimpses which signify something more. He’s been at the helm of commercials for some of the biggest brands in the business, including Cheerios, Toyota, McDonald’s, Tide, Coke, NFL and countless others. But it doesn’t stop there. Matt has had his work featured at the Superbowl, won two silver lions, been nominated for an Emmy, and his debut feature film ‘Wildflower’ premiered at Tiff (Toronto International Film Festival). Phew.
That debut feature released by Momentum pictures is a coming-of-age comedy-drama inspired by a true story of high school student navigating life with two neurodivergent parents. The film bursts with joy and humour, and Matt unearths extraordinary performances from an all-star ensemble. Simply put, it’s a film that stays with you.
Why advertising? Blending art and commerce is not easy, but when done well it’s magical. I’m obsessed with doing it well.
