Matthias is drawn to and delighted by the quirks of human nature, but not necessarily always. His first film was about the quirks of a more canine nature; it followed a dog who followed his passions and broke the rules. It was hugely charming, possibly outrageous, definitely memorable, extremely funny and undeniably truthful. It won him a Golden Lion at Cannes, but it also launched his career in the ad world, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Matthias finds joy in the unexpected and captures humanity beautifully (even in Zombies). His work portrays, with unfailing accuracy and beauty, the courage of diving into the unknown, and he always uses his unique perspective to make a story stand out. He’s a master at employing all the possible tools of filmmaking craft, whether it is the magic of SFX or the simplicity of raw documentary, and he employs them across various formats across multiple platforms — from ads to short films to features to docs.
Matthias loves the thrill of the day job, and to relax, he likes nothing more than snowboarding black diamonds. He’s an all-in kinda guy, and we’re glad he’s here.
