His work is diverse, nuanced and delicately funny, and there’s always a brilliant truth to find. He puts humanity into zombies, expertly captures the courage of diving into the unknown (but for real!) and conjures up the sheer magic of special effects, colliding the imagined and real with breathtaking results.
